  BACKGROUND: Spermatocytic tumor is a rare type of testicular germ cell tumor, accounting for approximately 1% of all testicular neoplasms. CASE PRESENTATION: A 51-year-old male presented to the hospital with a painless mass in the left testis. Ultrasonography revealed a heterogeneous intratesticular mass with cystic components. Testicular tumor markers were within normal ranges. The patient underwent a left orchiectomy. Pathologically, the tumor was characterized by the presence of medium to large neoplastic cells and small neoplastic cells without sarcomatoid or anaplastic features. Immunohistochemically, the tumor was positive for SALL4 and negative for CD30, AFP, OCT3/4, PLAP, D2-40, and hCG. Based on these findings, we diagnosed spermatocytic tumor of testis. CONCLUSION: We present a case of spermatocytic tumor, which is a distinct entity among testicular germ cell tumors, with a generally favorable prognosis following orchiectomy. However, long-term follow-up is recommended due to the potential for late metastasis.

  The frequency of discovery of renal cancer is increasing, because of advances in diagnostic imaging techniques and an increase in screening opportunities. However, 25-30% of them are found in advanced cancers that have already metastasized at the time of discovery. Therefore, the search for renal cancer serum biomarkers is an essential task for early detection of renal cancer and that is improving the prognosis of renal cancer. Therefore, in this study, RCC-GP1 was used to examine its concentration in the serum of renal cancer patients and to explore its potential as a biomarker. Serum RCC-GP1 was significantly elevated in ccRCC patient sera compared to non-cc RCC and non cancer patients, suggesting the possibility of becoming a serum biomarker.

  We identified molecules related to the malignant potential of prostate cancer in prostate cancer cell lines. Those included enzyme protein (prostate cancer glycoprotein-enzyme: PCGP-enz), glyprotein (GP) related to glycolysis (PCGP-glyco),GP related to blood pressre (PCGP-bp), GP related to stress response (PCGP-stress), GP related to ubiquitin (PCGP-ub), GP commonly expressed in triple negative breast cancer (PCGP-br), GP commonly expressed in lung cancer (PCGP-lc), GP expressed in endoplasmic reticulum (PCGP-er), etc. Among those PCGP-lc and PCGP-er were significantly associated with higher Gleason score and PCGP-er was also significantly related to T stage using radical prostatectomy specimens. We also found stage-specific embryonic antigen-4 (SSEA-4) was significantly associated with the malignant behavior of prostate cancer using clinical samples.

  Although RM2 antigen is a new histological marker for prostate cancer that may reflect the tumor stage, the target proteins carrying RM2 antigen are yet unclear. To identify the target proteins, we focused on amino acid sequence of the 50kDa protein that reacts strongly to RM2 antibody. Histological expression of several candidate proteins in prostate cancer was significantly associated with Gleason score. Among these, urine level of a candidate protein in the patients with prostate cancer decreased compared to those with benign prostate. These results suggested that these candidate proteins would be useful as a new histological or urine marker of prostate cancer.
