    Abstract In this paper, we focus on the music educational classes at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. There are many kinds of teaching method in the music education. In particular, improving their expressiveness in music education is very important. Actually, the expressiveness is connected with singing,instrumental music and creating works. We thought two ways to upgrade their expressive power. One is teaching various techniques of recorder to junior high school students. The other is listening to F. Schubert's “Erlkönig" earnestly. Teaching how to play the recorder well leads to interacting with each other and listening to his “Erlkönig" carefully leads to their critical thinking. In the end, we believe that if students at this university learn these two ways, they are able to get better skills and ideas.
