     View Summary

National parks are usually large natural areas designated and managed by the government and are used for tourism. A questionnaire survey on Pudacuo National Park, the first park in China, was conducted to evaluate the profile of tourists, visitation motivations, activities, and socio-demographic factors that influence their motivations. The key findings include the following: 1) Tourists that visited the national park were young, well educated, and had a stable income. 2) The primary motivation factors are air quality, scenery, stay in nature, escape city, and relationship. 3) The most popular activities were walking on trials, taking of photos/videos, and appreciation of plants and animal nature. 4) Gender, education, and age were influencing factors of visitation, whereas income was not statistically found to influence motivations.
